Amala to Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo, NSW

We were recently contacted by Jeff Holland at the LA Zoo to assist with the relocation of Amala to Australia. James has worked with Jeff in the past (this is our third Rhino shipment for the LA Zoo) and overlooked this shipment as well. The attending vet was Dr. Benn Bryant who traveled in the jump seat on the freighter to ensure Amala's wellbeing during transit. We were able to get some great shots so I will let the pictures tell the story.

Don't Be A Victim!

So it's been just about 7 months since we have made a post, sorry. I'm sure we didn't upset to many people as the guys in the office are probably the only ones that read this (and maybe my parents). I feel compelled to write about this as it happens time and time again. All to often we receive emails or phone calls from individuals in The States or from overseas asking when there beloved dog, monkey, birds etc... will be arriving. Like usual we ask for the last name as all jobs are filed by date and last name. When we are unable to find the file we ask the name of the agent they have been working with only to find out they have been working with our office in Cameroon, Nigeria, or the UK.

DO NOT SEND ANYONE MONEY VIA WESTERN UNION!

Needless to say we don't have an office in any of the previously mentioned locations. There are multiple scams going on in the pet relocation industry. People are being told to send money via Western Union and once the funds are received they will receive the pet/animal they have been promised. They are then told to contact the "LA" office for the flight details.

Another scam that is currently going on is by a woman in Los Angeles who is posting ads in Florida for bulldog puppies. She claims her son has cancer and promises you the puppies will be shipped out by Pacific Pet once she receives payment for the dogs. She then comes back to you claiming the dogs are sick and that they need to go to the vet (which she can't afford because of her son) in order to get more money from you. What kind of individual claims to have a son with cancer so they can con someone out of money? I even emailed the woman asking for a puppy to see what her response would be and sure enough it was exactly as I described above.

Long and the short of it is "caveat emptor." As the economy continues to decline certain individuals are stooping to all time lows and will do anything for a buck. Please be cautious and contact the alleged shipping company in advance as pet shippers do not sell pets, we simply relocate them.
